okay everybody, we had our first date and it went very well. I had the salads made and the steaks thawed. He rode up on his bike, opened a saddlebag and pulled out a six-pack of beer. My favourite kind, I noticed, not his. We sat around outside, had a beer while the BBQ heated up, chatted about last Sunday's ride.
Supper went well, lots of humour, a little pathos over my ex and his widowed status. One more beer.
He offered to clean up. I said no, that was why the BBQ and salads. We threw the plates in the dishwasher, got my bike out of the garage and went for a ride for ice cream.
After ice cream we came back here and I put my bike back in the garage. He gave me a hug, a peck on the cheek and suggested we go out Friday night.
I think I have another date.

Congrats! It sounds like you both had a great time. That's really cool that he thought to pick up your favorite kind of beer, not his. That definitely would have scored brownie points in my book. So now that it's all said and done, are you glad you took the plunge and asked him out? I can't even imagine how hard that must have been, but it seems like it really paid off. Have fun on your next date!
