If a man is turned off by a woman's size, or vice versa, then so be it. I'd say that match isn't meant to be.
I've met guys who are out and out rude to larger women. And truth be known, our weight and body shape is something that is programmed right in. A person might lose weight but 9 times out of 10 will go right back to where they were originally.
Then again, I guess I should turn it around. Would I prefer a large man or a thinner one? Will have to think on that.

My ex was a man that liked a full-figured woman. The model types never turned his head, other than he might comment that she'd be really pretty if she had some meat on her bones.
That was a very definite plus for us over the years as I've always been on the heavier side. I've always been self-conscious about my weight, exercise and try to eat healthy. Our kids all have to be careful as well, if they don't exercise regularly they gain weight.
I think genetics is partly responsible, made worse by our lifestyle choices.

Genetics definitely have something to do with it. I have the same problem of gaining weight quickly when I'm not as active as I should be, while I still know people in their 30's who eat anything they want, never exercise and stay skinny! But it's got to be especially tough making sure that your kids eat healthy meals and exercise like they should. Between TV, video games and computers, kids are practically never outside anymore. It's nothing like it was for us growing up, that's for sure.

Kids not being outside playing is something I've noticed over the last couple years here also. You can go for a drive and you rarely see kids outside. I really noticed it last winter, hardly any snowmen and forts, no sliding on the hills, and we sure did have the snow for it.
We are changing into a sedentary society and I'm afraid that's not very healthy.

I think the obesity issue is a combination of genetics and lifestyle choices. I know there are some people that can watch their diet and exercise regularly and are still overweight. I think it's unfair that these invididuals are judged by their weight. Often times these are some of the kindest people.

As far as there not being as many kids outside playing, I wonder how much of that has to do with the changes in society. Maybe parents are more protective of their children and only let them play in the back where others can't see. You hear of so many bad things that can happen to kids, even in nice neighborhoods.
