I think a "no strings" relationship can work out very well for some, but, at the same time they can be extremely tricky. As unintentional as it may be, strong feelings can easily develop when intimacy is involved, and if these feelings aren't mutual, there could be a major issue.

Don't they make movies over this issue? Someone always gets attached, strings always develop. Then one person wants to move on, try someone or something different, and there are hurt feelings, anger, retribution, tires being punctured, cars being pushed in the river, etc. etc. LOL
I'm glad I have no hormones... hahaha

LOL. Exactly! It's kind of cliche', but so true. I don't think I've ever seen an example of a "no strings" relationship that has truly remained "no strings". I'm sure they exist, but I don't think very many of them last.

While I wouldn't agree to such a relationship, I don't have a problem with it for other people. I think as long as both parties agree going into the relationship it's okay. However, like others have said, what relationship truly stays 'stringless'?

Which brings me to another question. Who do you think typically develops the strings first? I think it would probably be the woman. I think there is just something in the nature of men that allows them to be intimate with a woman yet stay emotionally detached.

I don't have a problem with stringless relationships. I've kind of been having a string of them myself, though only one at a time, thank you. (pun intended) For me, right now, I don't want a steady relationship. Also stringless never stays stringless, someone usually wants more.

To answer Belle's question, I think it is usually the woman who develops feelings of wanting more out of the relationship, before the man. But not always! And not always because of sex, either, although I think it's men's nature to want sex pretty much continually. It's built in them to impregnate the world, thereby guaranteeing the perpetuation of the species. Women on the other hand, get damn sick of child birth. Aside from that, men will sometimes start taking the woman for granted, showing up for supper, staying all evening and all but moving in. They're the ones looking for mama's apron strings as well as the string underwear.
