Paul McCartney will make his first visit to “The Late Show with David Letterman” Wednesday on CBS.

As part of The Beatles, McCartney made his U.S. television debut at the Ed Sullivan Theater on “The Ed Sullivan Show” 45 years ago. The legendary singer/songwriter/musician will return to that very stage to sit down for an interview with Letterman.

McCartney will also perform later in the broadcast, according to a news release.

Besides his groundbreaking work with The Beatles, the multiple Grammy Award-winning artist has also been hailed for his work with his band, Wings, as well as for his solo projects. He most recently released the album “Electric Arguments,” a collaboration with producer Youth under the moniker The Fireman.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will begin a tour of U.S. stadiums beginning July 17 at CitiField in New York City, and then heading to Washington, D.C., Boston, Atlanta and winding up Aug. 19 Dallas.
