Should you quit or stay?
Hey Guys--
Some of you reading this may actually remember the time when the term "quitter" was a derogatory one. It was the last thing you wanted to be hung with at school, and quitters were roundly derided.
But that was a long time ago. In this day and age, quitting is celebrated, as evidenced by the huge swell of support for the quitter Steven Slater, the flight attendant who threw a tantrum and quit his job because he got a boo-boo on the head from a rude woman.
*****Advertisement***** Do you HATE rejection by women? Imagine a life of no heartbreak or misery, only fun and joy with the women YOU choose to have in your life on your terms. I personally have no tolerance for quitters. None. I can't stand. Never have, never will--and guess what? Women can't stand them either.
What is quitting? It's giving up when you have the mental and physical ability to succeed in a difficult situation, but not the fortitude.
Staying in a "prohibitive situation" (a situation where you have no chance of success) is stupid and stubborn. It's not quitting, it's a smart move. But quitting something you could have succeeded at because the mental and physical pain associated with it is severe, is one of the worst things you can do.
Anything worth doing is going to cause you some pain, and the man who can tolerate that pain while acting in spite of it is the man who is successful. That used to be celebrated.
But in this day and age of the girlie man, quitting has become cool. Pain is to avoided at all costs, as are negative emotions. At least that's the prevailing mindset in this brave new world of entitlement.
You cannot, however, change the laws of physics, and the only thing sheltering people--or yourself--from pain and duress does is set you up for massive pain later on, pain you don't have the tools to deal with.
So, when you make it a point to push through, to endure the pain and duress, to sacrifice for the purpose of achieving a worthy goal, you develop a mental skill set for setting aside pain, for performing when others quit.
And, no matter how cool the girlie men try to make quitting, the real world reality is that the man who refuses to quit will always be successful. It may be a trite saying, an echo from the past, but it is still true and always will be, no matter how unpopular, or un-cool it becomes:
"Winners never quit, and quitters never win."
