Hey Guys,
Last night I decided to go to the movies and see Apollo 18. It was
OK, not spectacular, pretty much what I expected: Blair Witch goes
to Outer Space.
As I came out of the movie, I started thinking, what was the last
great original movie that told a story?

Unforgiven? Schindler's List? (a true story). The Chronicles of
Riddick? (enjoyable, but one would not classify that as great).
It seems to me like the art of story telling has been lost, as the
work of Joseph Campbell (look him up) passes into history.
Every preview I see is for yet another Fast and Furious type movie,
an action movie where the bad guys can't shoot straight, or a
whiz-bang special effects masterpiece that bores because it has no
story.
And yet stories are what captivate the imagination. It's why I can
watch the original Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back movies every
time they come on (but not the abominations that followed in the
90's).
It's why I can watch Unforgiven even when it's edited or The Good,
The Bad and The Ugly even though I've seen it a million times.
Those movies are great stories.
It seems like there's been an invasion of the mind snatchers
lately, with movies crafted to people who don't think.
But if you want to persuade, influence and entertain, especially
when it comes to women, you'd better become a good story teller.
Story telling is what separates the fairly attractive man from the
wildly attractive man.
Always remember you must turn on a woman's mind before you turn on
her body, and that's what stories do. They activate her mind, and
her body follows.
If you show a woman videos of car chases and shootouts and special
effects with no story linking them, she will fall asleep fast.
But if you tell her stories that activate and engage her
imagination, she will become attracted to you...and might just snatch
your body.
