Becoming stupid can make you smart

If you're in a committed relationship or marriage, you need this...
And if you're NOT in a relationship, but hope to be one day, you
need this... Be sure you get this:

Hey Guys,

Much has been written about quitting--"winners never quit, and
quitters never win."  And for the most part, that's true:  quitting
IS a dishonorable thing to do, under most circumstances.

But Felix Dennis, sole owner of Dennis Publishing, and found of
Maxim Magazine has a different take on it.  And since Dennis is
worth about $400 Million, I tend to pay attention to what he says.

What if everything you ever thought you knew about dating and
relationships was just plain wrong?  Would you keep doing the same
things and getting the same results?  Or would you try something
new and radically different?  To stop dating, and

"Quitting when you have a chance to succeed, no matter how painful
is dishonorable.  But quitting when you have NO chance to succeed
is the only honorable thing to do."

He's right.  There is no point continuing to beat your head against
the wall when you have no chance of success.  You only have a
limited amount of time in this world, and to waste it on something
that has no chance of success is moronic.

Bill Parcells calls that a "prohibitive situation," and that's a
good way to think about it.  When you identify something as a
prohibitive situation, then the only thing to do is to disengage
immediately, and spend your limited time on something that has a
chance to succeed.

Now, to the first part of Dennis's quote:  don't mistake pain,
mental and physical for a prohibitive situation.  Many situations
that lead to success are very painful, but they are not
prohibitive. To quit such a situation because you can't handle the
pain is dishonorable and it is quitting.

What you have to do is develop the skill of identifying a
prohibitive situation, OR a situation that leads to one.  I see
many men willfully and ignorantly entering into relationships with
women that can only lead to prohibitive situations, who blindly
hold on when all is lost.

You want to do your best to avoid one in the first place, and if
you do that, you'll stay out of a lot of them.  But if you do get
in one, you want to identify it immediately and get out.

How do you know if you're in one?  On one hand it's not easy, but
on the other hand, if other people have pushed through a similar
situation and succeeded, then it's not prohibitive. If no one has,
then there's a good chance it is.

So, the answer to the question of, "should you ever quit" is simply
this:  only in a prohibitive situation.

EliteMate Testimonial

EliteMate is something different that I have been part of and I am glad I received an email inviting me to join. The best thing about this site is that we get to meet new people and even find someone for me or anyone else. I have enjoyed every second as a member of EliteMate and it's really cool.
