Because we, as men, are literal, we tend to believe this. So, we
treat a woman as a friend (because she said she wanted to be
friends first) only to be shocked to discover that all we have it...

In fact, women will often say, "I value our friendship, and

Why do women say "friends first" when it comes to romance?
The answer is simple: it's a test. It's a test to see if you
really understand women, a test to see if you can overcome a simple

As I have mentioned many times, the romance novel genre is the most
popular fiction genre by far. Those books are written by women,
for women.
To my knowledge there is not one single romance novel written where
the heroine becomes friends first with the hero, they spend months
dating, and "take it slow."
Nooooo, that's not what happens at all. He desires her, and his
desire eventually overwhelms her to the point that she surrenders.
He "sweeps her off her feet," if not literally, then emotionally.
He demonstrates he is NOT like other ordinary men who will be
stopped by a mere "friends first." In fact, he knows and
understands what that is all about, and pays no attention to it.
So, the next time you hear (or read) a woman say she just wants to
be friends first, you know what she's doing. And she should be
friends first--with every other man but you.
In your case, friendship will come in time...passion will come much
quicker.
