If you've paid any attention to the news, you've seen the hoopla
over the "Occupy Wall Street" protests, which appear to amount to a
mob of people asking for handouts.
They are apparently protesting everything in the world that is
protestable including student loans the lender actually, gasp,
wants to be repaid for.

It all makes for good media, of course, but it has nothing to do
with the real world. If you borrow money, you have to pay it
back, if you lend money, you want it back with interest because you
are giving up the immediate use of that money.
That is simply how the world works, and no amount of avoiding work
in the name of protesting will change that. There's a reason
communes don't work, because how they should work has nothing to do
with the real world.
However, I'll tell you a big secret about the real world, one the
occupy wall street goons have no interest in hearing: if you
embrace the real world, if you accept human nature for what it
really is, you can get everything you want out of life.
You can sit behind a computer screen and make lots of money while
working as much or as little as you like, on things you enjoy (I do
it every day).
You can attract women inaccessible to other men, and have a life
full of great women who wouldn't get within ten miles of an occupy
wall street protestor (I do it).
You can stay in great physical shape, long after your 30's, while
still enjoying fine food, booze, and cigars (I do it).
BUT--(and here's where most people tune out)--you have to produce
what other people perceive to be value, then ask to be compensated
for it. If you don't, you won't get what you want--no one will.
Why don't most people do this? Because it's hard, man. Sometimes
what other people think is valuable doesn't jive with what you
think is. Sometimes what you think should be attractive to women
just plain isn't. And most of the time, it's hard, emotionally
draining work.
There's a price to be paid for everything, but that's good news.
So few people are willing to pay the price, that when you do, you
find the rewards far outweigh it.
And now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go watch my 73" tv, sit on
my leather couch, and admire my Whiskey collection, wishing it was
Saturday night so I could drink some. Perhaps some protestors will
show up at my door, but I doubt it...3 flights of stairs is a long,
long walk.
