I have something to admit. I fell hard for Steve Jobs a few years ago after I read his commencement speech to Stanford graduates in 2005. Not the 'I want to get with him' type of attraction. No. The type that can be life altering because it brings to light everything you have considered in the quiet moments with yourself - soul & spirit at task.
Well since then I have an affinity for reading random graduation speeches, craving for the same depth and profound reaction I had to Steve Jobs. There were some pretty good ones. And finally as of recently, I read George Saunder's speech to the graduating class of 2013 at Syracuse University. And it struck a beautiful chord - one that had more to do with character than passion. And for that I am grateful.
