Chris Brown reported for trash pick-up detail this morning in Virginia. When he spoke to CNN’s Larry King, he said that he was happy to do whatever punishment labor he was given but thought that he could do more by talking to young people the way that T.I. did as part of his parole. I’ve been thinking about, and while of course there’s the satisfaction of, “oh, now look at you, picking up trash, that serves you right.†Along with the simple fact that community service is a great way for punishment to translate into free labor for cityworks. But, what if Chris Brown was also required to go through his domestic abuse counseling process in a public way….wouldn’t that be a powerful “teaching moment†too? Just a thought.
