Mandy Moore wasn't sure she ever wanted to be married – until she met her now-husband Ryan Adams.
But before she fell for the fellow singer, "I didn't know if marriage was something that was super important to me," Moore, 25, tells Women's Health. When she finally decided to go through with it, "I didn't take the decision lightly. I ventured into it realistically. But life takes you places you wouldn't have expected. I'm really content with what was in the cards for me."
Especially when it comes to Adams, 34, someone she calls "my best friend, someone I have so much respect for."
Moore's March wedding to Adams was very low-key: an eight minute ceremony held at a small chapel in Savannah, Ga., only a month after her engagement was announced. "A big celebration was never my cup of tea," she says. "It was never important for a wedding to be about anything other than me and my partner."
Likewise, Moore says her life with Adams is a calm one. "We're [just] quiet people who live a normal, boring life."
With a new album, Amanda Leigh, and a new husband, Moore has left her teen queen days behind, even though people still won't let her escape her "Candy" past.
While she gets that "people have preconceived notions of who I am or what I do, I do find it bizarre that people find it bizarre that I've grown up."
