I don't think it's about getting to know someone only to find out you are strangers. I thik it's more about change. Everybody constantly changes, maybe only a tiny amount each day, but we do. If we don't stay on the same page, so to speak, then at some point, people will have gone in different directions. There's some wise saying about the only two things you can be sure of are death and taxes and that pretty much covers it.
