In my opinion you reach a point where it just isn't comfortable anymore. When I had my second child, I had some complications and was placed on pelvic rest for the entire pregnancy. Needless to say that didn't make my husband too happy! I was upset at first, but towards the end of the pregnancy, I was kind of glad because I felt too fat and miserable to even think about sex anyway.
