Congrats! It sounds like you both had a great time. That's really cool that he thought to pick up your favorite kind of beer, not his. That definitely would have scored brownie points in my book. So now that it's all said and done, are you glad you took the plunge and asked him out? I can't even imagine how hard that must have been, but it seems like it really paid off.
